CRAU explanation:

Macaque spent several years in seasonsrpg, a slice of life/action game where each person was assigned a season and learned powers associated with that season. As a Winter, Macaque was granted the ability to create and manipulate water and ice, and Winters also had various shadow powers assigned to them. However, as Macaque came into the game as a master of shadows, it irritates him that people were just given this power without needing to learn to respect the shadows.

In addition to the powers, there are emotions associated with each season, and for Winter those are fear, patience, and pride. When he is feeling those feelings, he is better able to use the Winter abilities and might even lose control of them if the feeling is strong enough.

Through various stressful events, Macaque learned to mostly let go of his fear of and aversion to closeness, which originated when he and his best friend, Sun Wukong, had a falling out. For centuries he used layers of sarcasm, irony, and occasional cruelty and pettiness to protect him from getting too close to anyone, but, through various player plots in the game, he saw firsthand how this can hurt people. Little by little, he learned to open himself up to emotional intimacy. He took on several students and he is teaching them magic, including shadow magic. Sharing his shadows with them is the biggest compliment he can give. He also adopted two teenaged kids and managed to collect a whole array of romantic partners, shocking even to himself. His kids particularly helped him to get over himself and open up, since if he was going to adopt these kids then he was going to do a decent job at being a parent.

He also had to have a heart game for himself, which is a time when people have to venture into your soul to fix something. Macaque was determined that the people going into his soul, the most important people in his life, would not be harmed because he was too closed off and defensive. He spent weeks meditating and soul-searching in order to make the heart game as safe as possible for those going in. Opening himself up for this specific circumstance was vital in his development, as he saw that he can trust people with the deepest parts of himself.

Above all, Macaque learned to talk through his problems rather than ignore them or let them out in little, spiteful bits of snark. He found that he enjoys the process of talking things out. He’s still not the most adept at it, but he certainly tries. It’s rewarding to him now instead of frightening or pointless.

All this is not to say that Macaque can’t still be a snark who enjoys messing with people, or that he can’t be defensive on occasion. He absolutely can be. The key difference is that snark and defensiveness are not the only options you can get with him.

Is your character willing to have sex and able to give informed consent?
Yes!

What is the wish your character made? Why did they make it?
He wishes that his kids and his significant others can please stop being kidnapped and tortured, especially the second part. Because his family, especially his daughter, has a knack for getting yanked to worlds that force her to compete in torture games which kill and maim for entertainment or the sustainment of some jackass god, all he wants is for that to stop, to give them some choices in what happens in their lives. He wants them to be able to rest and relax and he’d also like to keep them within shouting distance please – meaning not stuck in a world that people can’t teleport into or out of at will. He is ready and able to work for these rich pricks if it gains him that.

The people who knew him from before would be shocked nearly to death to learn that this is his wish. He’s come so far on his redemption tour.

How will your character initially react to Decadia's setting?
Having signed the contract and knowing what he’s here for, Macaque will be impressed with his lavish surroundings and have no trouble trying to get people into bed at the earliest opportunity. He is a performer at heart and will use his drama queen tendencies to play to the cameras, having little trouble with interactions whether it’s casual and essentially meaningless or more intimate and personal.

Macaque will also likely try to make friends and develop more emotional connections, as he has found them to be fulfilling and to improve his life substantially. But if he can’t find anyone like that, he’ll continue to work toward high ratings and making sure his contract is fulfilled. It’s for the people he loves.

What are you most interested in doing with your character in Decadia?
I’m interested in a wide variety of CR, from frenemies to casual sex partners to those with whom Macaque shares a genuine connection. Because he can put on a very aloof front, which is extremely intentional, Macaque can lend himself toward Hit It And Quit It CR, endeavoring to make it at least entertaining and fun, and that is appealing for me as a player. Hatesex of whatever variety is also great fun, and Macaque can have an attitude that could make this type of CR likely.

However, it would also be fun if there are other characters for whom he has genuine feelings. He’s still getting reacquainted with this idea as he was basically a solo act for hundreds of years but it thrills me every time he makes an earnest connection to someone and pursues it.

Since it’s impossible to know how CR is going to go until you try, I plan to tag around quite a lot and just see how things go. Macaque has so many different moods, and I’ll be equally fascinated by a wide breadth of CR types and happy to go with the flow and see where things land.

What aspect of sex appeals to your character the most?
Showing his partners a good time. Whether that means kinky bondage/BDSM stuff or

What kinks does your character have, known or unknown to them? Why do they have those particular kinks?
Macaque is very old and has had a lot of different sexual experiences, and his philosophy is that he’ll try anything at least once. That said, he does have some favorites: using his shadows for bondage, teasing, edging, and dominance games (giving or receiving) are things that he truly enjoys. He is a true switch and will very much go with whatever the winds are blowing with each particular partner.

Macaque enjoys being the dominant partner because he spent many centuries believing that he was alone in the world and that opening himself up was dangerous and sex was either simply a release or a matter of pride. On the flip side, he enjoys being a submissive partner because he spent many, many years with Sun Wukong, the ultimate dominant, and the only way to maintain that relationship was to be submissive. Being submissive and being taken apart is probably his favorite sexual situation since being with Wukong was the best time of his life, though not by all that much. Macaque considers dominance games to be very versatile and will fall on either end of the spectrum depending on how the situation progresses and his particular relationship with that partner.

There are very few things that he doesn't care for. Being called “good boy” or any similarly condescending praise kinks are a turn-off. Someone getting off on literally torturing him is also a no – he is perfectly fine with some pain or violence, as long as it doesn’t turn into one-sided sadism that goes past a certain line. Where that line is depends on the partner.

I will be fine with people recognizing him from Earth history since Journey to the West is a canonical book in Lego Monkie Kid. Macaque has a lot of resentment towards the book because of how he was portrayed and it’s fun for me to have him gripe about it.
