Macaque practically bristles at the mention of sharing.

"No. No way. I don't like sharing Wukong, I just do it because I have no choice. I might be able to get talked up to threesomes with other people, but Wukong will never be one of them."

At least he's clear on it?

Lucifer knows he's getting close what he can only imagine is a delicate subject so he isn't going to push too hard unless Macaque wants to talk about this.

Macaque practically shrinks in Lucifer's arms. Apparently he hit the nail on the head.

"I'm -- I'm used to it. It's fine. I know that MK comes first for him. I've known that for years."

"Would you believe him if he told you in no uncertain terms you and MK are equally important to him?"

Lucifer pauses. "I know MK is important to him. And you are too. Logic tells me you are both equal in his heart of hearts. Because that man would move Heaven, Earth, and the Underworld for you both. Would die for you both. I don't think MK inspired the immediate deep feelings inside Wukong that you did, Macaque. Being completely honest here."

Macaque lifts a hand to make an inarticulate gesture.

"I just can't. I know how special MK is. We're in different leagues. And I've never seen Wukong act the way he acts around MK. He listens to him and trusts him and--"

"Is it because Wukong has never had a student before? Or maybe because they came from the same stone?" Yep, Wukong and him talked about that.

"He trusts you. Do you wish he shows it more and shows he listens to you more? You say MK is special. And he is. I'm not arguing that. Simply pointing out all three of you are incredibly special. The three only mystic monkeys in your world, right?"

"I don't think it's anything like that. It's who they both are and who they are together."

He's about to answer the next things, but then he pauses and sighs. "I think I just need time to work through my host of Wukong issues. I'm not sure you, or he, or anyone besides me can fix this. Because I can't think of a single thing he could do or say differently to change my mind."

"Talking through it is you working through it, love. Just with a soundboard you trust. Okay. That is an answer and a valid one. Right now, you can't think of anything. Maybe, right now, there isn't one. Well, one that wouldn't cause harm to someone you both love, right?"

Since he does want to clear the air about one thing. "Because the only thing he could do to prove it would be to end his romantic relationship with MK. Or would that still not do it?"

I am saying that right now, short of a thing none of you want, it is okay if there isn't an answer of how he could prove it. And asking if even that would do it. Trying to simply connect a dot here back to something I know you have issues with. That feeling inferior. Feeling second or third. And I am going into an extreme here. I acknowledge that. But if he did it and said it was to prove you were more important, would you believe him or would absolutely nothing do it?"
