The elevator dings at Level C and the doors open to...

A mountainside, technically.  Although it's basically a tiny hill right now, and it really looks much more like a construction site.  Atop said hill stands the Monkey King's staff, upright in the grass.  Presumably, beneath it is sealed the Demon Bull King, or at least that was the case once upon a time.

Laying on the ground in front of the hill is Red Son's gauntlet.

There is sunlight streaming in from above, although oddly there don't appear to be any shadows here. Notably, your hearing seems to be more sensitive in this space, like a much lesser version of Macaque's. You can hear the silence stretching in all directions, but for the breathing and heartbeats of the assembled party. Everything is still, in a way that feels unnatural.

Nothing else appears to be happening.  It's the staff, and the site, and the gauntlet.  A glance at the staff will show anyone that it's probably what goes in the "key"hole that will allow you to access the lower levels.  Could it really be so simple?

Sure, normally moving the Monkey King's staff is a whole big deal, but a full third of the assembled can just pick it up, and the gauntlet will allow anyone else to do the same.  So it seems like the only question is, who's going to pull the sword from the stone?

This was sus. MK was sure of it. The moment the doors opened and his head was full of breathing and heartbeats he felt unsettled. He remembered this. It was obvious where they were and when. Well, kinda. At least it was familiar. Was Macaque hiding in the shadows during all this? Monkey King had been there as a bird. MK didn't know if it was like that. Was it a memory or was this just some weird test? The staff was right there. Oh he wanted to run for it but the shock from the increased hearing kept him still.

He peeked out of the elevator and looked around. He put his hand over his eyes to shield them from the sun above.

"Okay," He said with a whisper. "This feels like a trap," MK stepped out of the elevator anyway.

All you can tell about the thing is that it appears to be a small, sharp object.

The shard vanishes in the "floor" of the area, tearing another void into it as it vanishes into a deeper part of Macaque's soul.

"AH!" MK dodged thank goodness and froze. He looked at the tear in the ground and gasped. Oh no. That was NOT good.

MK looked around, trying to see anything that might have caused that. Did he trigger a trap?! Did someone throw it at him? What the hey?!

You can see that the object has a little glitter inside it as it zooms by, probably due to being so close to it.

The hole looks much the same as the ones by the elevator, if a bit less regular around the edges. A memory will probably fill it up, presuming the lobby thing was a tutorial about how to deal with these

"Why is this here? I...was he even ever here?" He said allowed because he can't remember seeing Macaque there. Any signs of shadows. Seeing the gauntlet.

Either way, the image has shaken him a bit because he hasn't been here in so long and seeing the staff like that makes things twist hard in his heart, his breathing quickening as he steps out of the elevator.

Despite your being able to hear it coming, being stunned at the scene means that you don't react quickly enough, and the sharp object catches you in the arm as it yeets itself across the space.

All you notice about the thing besides "ow, my arm" is that it's sharp and there's something glittering inside it. Luckily, your Spring healing works in here.

Red Son yelps, jerking back, hand going over his arm and stepping back, putting pressure on the wound. Letting the spring power work on the injury as he looks down at the tear and scowls. "...is that going to be the whole floor?"

Well, the nice hill in the middle of a construction sight is kind of weird. Its unclear how that happened. There definitely seemed to be recognition of the scene from some, which isn't so surprising.

The hearing is....unnerving, though that is the nice thing about the helmet. He makes the mental commands to ready itself for any sudden loud noises. It seems important for the sensitive hearing, but without compensating for it completely.

"Let me guess, the staff is gonna have some rules to it?" He asked as he moved to go take a look at it.

It is a small, sharp object with irregular, jagged edges. And there is something gold glittering inside it, and you can make out the vague shape of a golden monkey, the same as above Wukong's desk in the Lobby. Seems like that is useful information.

It may be important to hear things, but its also important to keep himself FUNCTIONAL. He can turn them off if people are noticing things.

So he'll edge out, looking for any trick beyond just the staff, presumably.

Donnie freezes in place after the dodging. Sets his foot back on the elevator. Looks at the hole.

"Okay," he said. Purple energy forms at his back. Spidershell has many uses, but that's why ninpo is useful. He can still access the hover pack. "Lets see if its floor is lava rules," he said, and he'll hover out of the elevator, on high alert for more projectiles.

There is a new hole that needs dealt with, but other than that it's just the staff.

There was no chance this was that simple. Questions of Macaque having possibly been there that day aside, it was too quiet. Too peaceful, and looked way to easy. Nothing ever was that simple in dealing with demons, immortals, or Celestial monkeys. Period. But also, nothing could be gained by being too cautious so Wukong stepped off of the elevator.

Wukong watched the thing disappear into the newly ripped void with a raised eyebrow, following its movement and walking to the edge to take a closer look. "Pretty sure it's to our benefit to keep more of that from happening. Because ripping more holes in Macaque is the opposite of what we want," he said, his tone light.

He crouched near the edge of the void, planning to intercept the object once he had judged its trajectory.

The shard is gone. It ripped a hole into the "ground" and disappeared. After waiting a moment, no other ones appear to be forthcoming right now.

Good news is, that hole can be filled with one of the memories people got up in the Lobby, assuming it all works the same way.
